History
Established in 2004, in the aftermath of the collapse of the Somali central government, Haji Abdi Health Science College emerged from the earnest aspirations of the Nugal region community, with a broader impact intended for Puntland as a whole. Despite encountering considerable challenges from resource scarcity and inadequate facilities during its inception, the college persevered with its mission to address the region’s pressing need for healthcare education. The World Health Organization (WHO) collaborative efforts of the United Nations were pivotal in providing indispensable technical support and contributing to the development of curriculum, syllabi, and teaching materials. Additionally, partnerships with the Ministry of Health (MOH), WHO, and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) resulted in the incorporation of a midwifery syllabus, further enhancing the breadth and depth of educational offerings. Aligned with the policies of UNFPA and WHO, our curriculum reflects the latest guidelines and standards, ensuring that our college remains at the forefront of health science education and training.
